Have you ever been INTERVIEWED by an AI Chatbot?
I know things like Hirevue have been recording answers for a long time - but eagle-eyed coach Jake Riley at Wabash College just shared this experience from a student.
And if you’ve faced similar situations, here’s my advice:
1) Everything should be perfectly punctuated and grammatical - this would be the easiest way for a bot to kick someone out of the process. And we all know that Gen Z isn't the best at this... ;)
2) Just like resumes and cover letters should be optimized for keywords, so should these answers. That way, if they're looking for certain semantic signals of fit, your students will be filtered in vs. out.
3) And because GenAI is more sophisticated than previous versions of chatbots, it can also pick up on impact - just like a human recruiter. So instead of just saying "I'm great at SQL," a student would be well-advised to say something like "I wrote a SQL script that decreased data processing time by 25%, allowing my internship employer to speed up their report production by an entire day."
