A job-seeker asked me today: Why do I need to market myself?
And I get it, he didn't want to be a marketer, so why act like one, right?
But here's the truth: Great marketing isn't banner ads and jazz hands.
It's understanding what someone else cares about.
And then serving them the way *you'd* want to be served.
Take this Airbnb example.
The owner took the time to list 29 amenities to justify their $1,000+/night price.
But you know what they didn't list?
How many beds are in the house!
In other words: The exact thing that guests care about first and foremost.
So the next time you're looking for a job, renting a house, or doing anything that involves anyone else beyond yourself (i.e., life), do yourself (and them) a favor...
...Please, think like a marketer. :)
