A friend just told me he and his whole team are about to be laid off and he can't afford to be out of work. So here's what I texted him to do immediately.
Feel free to share with anyone who can benefit 🙏
PS: Here are all the tips in text format!
1) I’d have two absolutely unique resumes for Sales vs. Data Science
2) I’d ask ChatGPT which critical keywords I’m missing on each of those CVs and whether I’ve made my accomplishments clear enough
3) I’d set up alerts for those roles on LinkedIn or Indeed and then apply as soon as they’re posted - since you have an 8X advantage when you apply in the first 96 hours
3) As soon as you apply, reach out to anyone you have a connection with at the company (1st degree, 2nd degree, alumni) to see if they can refer you - since that gives you a 10X advantage
4) Try to figure out who the hiring manager is on LinkedIn (e.g., a Manager role is likely to report to a Director) and reach out directly (you can use Hunter.io to identify their email) to showcase what you can do for them relative to their JD.
5) Do this consistently for 2 weeks and aim for ~10 applications a day. If you don’t have interviews after that time, there’s likely an issue with your resume that we can look into (since you should have at least a 1% chance of getting an interview with every application).
